What is a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) System?
Selective catalytic reduction or SCR systems use a reduction agent to convert volatile nitrogen oxide into harmless nitrogen and water emissions. These systems are designed to significantly lower NOx discharge, which contributes to air pollution, smog, and acid rain that negatively affect air and environmental quality, as well as public health.
As a trusted source for high-efficiency pollution control, Turner EnviroLogic has manufactured innovative solutions for environmental compliance for over 40 years. With cost-effective solutions designed to your needs, we manufacture all SCR equipment in-house for advanced air pollution control systems tailored to deliver optimal NOx reduction across various industries. How Does a Selective Catalytic Reduction System Work?
Selective catalytic reduction systems operate by taking in exhaust gases from diesel engines and turning them into N2 and H2O. The exhaust gas is evenly distributed across the chamber, and then a neutralizing agent, ammonia or urea, is injected into the exhaust stream to catalyze a chemical reaction to convert the hazardous pollutants. Clean nitrogen and water exits the SCR unit after the cycle, and continuous monitoring systems ensure ongoing performance compliance.

Advantages of SCR Technology for Various Industries
SCR technology offers various benefits for industrial machinery, reducing harmful emissions to environmental standards. We engineer and produce SCR systems to the exact specifications of their application for the effective conversion of toxic air pollutants into harmless gases, providing optimal performance in a range of industrial operations. Custom SCR systems offer cost-effective and versatile benefits, including:
- Compatible with a wide variety of turbine brands (GE, Rolls Royce, Pratt & Whitney, Mitsubishi, Allison, and more)
- Achieves NOx, CO, and VOC reduction down to 95% with 5 ppm ammonia slip
- Can feature ground or stack-mounted baffled sound silencers for noise level requirements
- Recycles heat to vaporize ammonia to eliminate the need for electric heaters and reduce parasitic load
- Designed for operation during peak energy use times through rapid and repeated start-up cycles
