Packed bed scrubbers pull the contaminated air into a column that is filled with packing material which increases the surface area for gas-liquid contact. The gas flows upward through the column, where it comes in contact with a scrubbing liquid, either water or a chemical solution, and as it passes through the bed, the pollutants are absorbed or reacted into the liquid to clean the air. Before exiting the scrubber, the gas passes through a demister which removes any aerosolized scrubbing liquid generated in the equipment. Finally, the cleaned gas exits the system, and the scrubbing liquid is recirculated or treated.
Wet scrubbers deliver high removal efficiencies for gaseous pollutants, including acids gases, basic gases, soluble vapors, and odors for various industrial facilities. With the capability to generate custom designs, we develop specific solutions to match the application with durable construction materials to withstand a range of corrosive environments. We manufacture packed-bed wet scrubbers to deliver reliable pollution control with low-pressure drop and energy-efficient operation in a compact design. Our systems include:
Often applied to the removal and neutralization of acid gases like HCl, HF, and SO2, wet scrubbers are used in both industries which generate these compounds and those which use thermal oxidizers for control of halogenated hydrocarbons like polyvinyl chloride and PFAS. Likewise, they deliver energy-efficient operations for managing odors, fumes, and basic gases like ammonia. Industries that benefit from utilizing packed bed scrubbers in their facilities include:
